The "No Bilingue" movement strongly advocates that from now on only one national language is spoken in Switzerland. This leads to a bizarre referendum that puts the country under a state of emergency.

Surprisingly, the vote was successful and Switzerland becomes officially monolingual – the new chosen language is French! Many citizens face an identity crisis, including Walter Egli (Beat Schlatter), a federal police officer. He is responsible for the smooth transition to monolingualism. Together with his French-speaking partner, he must find a growing resistance group in the south of Switzerland that is defending the initiative by all means.
