The accidental hero, Mickey Barnes, finds himself in an extraordinary situation when his employer, who demands the ultimate dedication to the job...asks him to die, repeatedly, in order to live.

The film follows employee Mickey whose job it is to go on dangerous missions and when one of his variants dies, his replicant is almost immediately available and has most of the memories of his predecessor. Mickey is called "expendable", that is, any mission that is too dangerous for people is a mission for him. Problems arise when one variant still survives (Mickey 17) and meets a new one (Mickey 18)...
