Photographer Richard Billingham returns to the squalid council flat outside of Birmingham where he and his brother were raised, in a confrontation and reconciliation with parents Ray and Liz.

Ray is the author’s perpetually alcoholic father. Liz is the author’s mother, addicted to nicotine, knitting and puzzles. They become the dominant motif of his art photographs in which he documents his own upbringing in a slum in Birmingham in the Thatcherism era.
