This unique documentary, the most award-winning film of last year’s Sundance Festival, and in rarity nominated in two, usually mutually exclusive, categories of Best Documentary and Best Foreign Language Film at the upcoming Oscar Film Awards.
Beekeeper Hatidže lives with her sick mother and bees in an isolated Macedonian mountain town. Their difficult but harmonious coexistence is unexpectedly shaken by the arrival of new neighbors. A large and loud family led by the unscrupulous pater familias Hussein inhabits their caravan next to Khadija’s stone dwelling. A fascinating film that reflects man's contemporary relationship with nature - his relentless exploitation and neglect in a blind race to maximize profits.
