For the opening of the month of March in the Kino Zona, we are preparing something special for you. Namely, on the 'Women's Day' on Sunday, March 03, as part of the 'Women's days' event, a screening of the comic drama "Support the girls" will be held. We have prepared a little surprise for the visitors of the screening in cooperation with the florist "Flora". ;)
The plot of the film follows the head of the sports bar Lisa (interpreted by Regina Hall) who, in addition to the usual problems at work, tries to maintain the dignity of girls who are scantily clad waitresses constantly under attack by chauvinistic remarks and all kinds of harassment. As one of the employees finds herself in trouble with the law, Lisa organizes a charity car wash for customers to raise funds to help the poor girl hire a lawyer. The bar owner doesn't like the idea too much, which makes Lisa in an ungrateful position.
Directed and written by one of the most prominent American mumblecore directors, Andrew Bujalski, and for those who are not particularly familiar with his rather rich opus so far, this will be the perfect opportunity. The film in an intimate way explores the position of women in the male world (on this occasion waitresses in a sports, mostly men-filled bar), calls for tolerance and equality, and modestly pays homage to the American working class. Regina Hall embodies Lisa very well, a capable and caring bar manager who somewhat realizes that some things will never change until those most at risk loudly and clearly demand their right to dignity and equality.
The film "Support the Girls" has so far collected an enviable number of critical awards, and last year it was one of the competitors for Motovun's "Golden Propeller". We invite our faithful spectators to a screening of a film intended primarily for them, and at the entrance to the hall they will be greeted by a surprise.
You can buy tickets every working day from 8 am to 2 pm in the premises of the Alliance of Independent Culture Centre (across the post office in Relja) and at the screening location one hour before the start. We remind you that the screening of the film will be held in the Concert Hall of the Rector's Palace on Sunday, March 8 starting at 8 p.m. See you!
