Loro

Loro

Italy 151 min.

During a tumultuous period in the career of Silvio Berlusconi, as his marriage to second wife Veronica Lario fractures, LORO speculates on what may or may not have taken place behind closed doors, depicting a wide variety of characters from multiple levels of society and their attempts to either ingratiate or distance themselves from him.

Seduction, glamor, corruption, drugs and lewd pool fun: Silvio Berlusconi's life has long required a film adaptation that was ultimately chosen by acclaimed Italian director Paolo Sorrentino, winner of the prestigious Oscar. With the film "Loro", Sorrentino gradually reveals the complex personality and motivations of this billionaire and former prime minister (fantastically embodied by Toni Servillo) during a turbulent period of his career as his second marriage to his wife Veronica Lario falls apart. Boldly and controversially speculating about what was or was not happening behind closed doors, "Loro" offers us a modern commentary on the excesses and nonsense of those who want power.
