A few days before Christmas, after quitting his job in Germany, Matthias returns to his multi-ethnic village in Transylvania. He wants to be involved as much as possible in the education and upbringing of his own son Rudi, whom he left in the care of his mother Ana for too long, and in this way free the boy from the unresolved fears that plague him.

At the same time, Matthias is preoccupied with his aging father Otto, and he would also like to see his ex-lover Csilla. When a few new workers are hired in the small factory where Csilla works, the peace of the community is disturbed, and frustrations, conflicts and passions that have been hidden for a long time under the supposed understanding and peace begin to surface...
